Very Mindful - Teen Yoga Workshop

These workshops offer the benefits of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation in a format specifically for teens, ages 13 - 17. Each workshop is guided by an overall theme to equip participants with a set of tools they can utilize as they move through common experiences in these developmental teen years. Each session includes ice-breaker games, individual reflections and meditations, art & creative exercises, yoga movement, and so much more!

Registration closes 48 hours before each workshop. There must be a minimum of 4 participants for each session to run. Registrants will receive an email with the specific workshop details and any other pertinent information.

The following themes are scheduled for the summer of 2025:

Saturday, August 16, 10 am - 1 pm - I Trust Me - Cultivating confidence & embracing wisdom

  • Teen culture can often heavily focus on comparison and pressure to conform. Here we will use yoga techniques and practices to notice these tendencies, acknowledge how they affect our minds and bodies, and embrace our unique strengths and wisdom to bolster our self confidence.
  • TLDR - We are each unique, intelligent, and awesome!

Saturday, August 6, 10 am - 1 pm - Reach & Rest - Balancing ambition and restoration

  • A lot of decisions and transitions are made as a teenager - education, college, work, future goals, etc. The narrative often focuses on how good it is to be ambitious, work hard, achieve, win, and hustle. But, especially in the teenage years, we need to make sure we're building good habits and rituals to balance that ambitious fire with rest so we don't burn out. Here we will use yoga practices to learn about our own habits and capacities for work and rest. We will focus on the importance of balance!
  • TLDR - Let's learn how to balance work and play!

What to bring & wear:

  • wear comfortable clothes you can move freely in
  • avoid wearing very short shorts, low-cut or strappy tops, and anything excessively baggy - you'll want to be able to move around without adjusting your outfit!
  • bring a healthy packed meal or snack (a small refrigerator is available if needed). There will be a 15-minute break to eat! Please avoid peanut products and anything very crumbly or sticky to keep the studio safe and clean.
  • bring a water bottle so you can stay hydrated! Cold, purified water is available to refill your bottle in the studio if needed.
  • a yoga mat - towels and blankets aren't recommended, as they are very slippery on the floor and are often more detrimental to movement than helpful. You don't need a fancy one! There are very inexpensive mats available at places like TJ Maxx. There are a few yoga mats you can borrow in-studio if needed, but supplies are limited, so please reach out to reserve one for yourself if you'd like to borrow one!

What is provided:

  • 3 hours of structured, guided activity and exercise in-studio, designed to bring an understanding and appreciation of yoga in age and developmentally appropriate ways
  • a notebook and pen/pencil for writing exercises
  • all supplies needed for art activities during the workshop
  • take-home packet of theme-related meditations & journaling prompts
  • mini goodie bag
